Jio Fiber to Offer Free 10Mbps Broadband to New Users, Double Data to Existing Users Amid COVID-19 Outbreak
Jio announced that thanks to Reliance Industries Limited’s, it will provide basic JioFiber broadband connectivity at no service charge. It indicates that, taking into account the geographic feasibility, the service will be provided free of charge at a speed of 10 Mbps. In addition, existing JioFiber subscribers will get duplicate data for all plans. The company wants to ensure that in a crucial moment like this, the mobility services remain operational at all times. Reliance has set up this initiative to help India fight coronaviruses and to ensure that services are not hindered, as the primary means of communication is currently the Internet. As part of this initiative, Reliance Jio will offer free basic JioFiber 10 Mbps connectivity to anyone living in its service areas. There will be no change to Internet access, but subscribers will have to pay for the router. The company states that home gateway routers will receive a minimum refundable deposit. For existing JioFiber subscribers, the telecommunications operator will offer double the volume of data with all plans.
Recently, Jio had announced that it would offer double data on additional coupons for 4G data. These vouchers will also have non-Jio voice call minutes at no additional cost. The company says essential teams to help keep these services running will be deployed across the country on a rotational basis.
